Construction of New Building
Engineering plans were donated by Williams Construction Co. of Bartlesville, and blueprints of plans by Darrel Fry.
Ground-breaking ceremony was held May 19, .1979, and the new building would be a one-story addition to the south of the old hall.
The land for the new building was donated by H. W. and Leona Kester. Many members contributed money, materials, labor and technical skills, final cost of building $45,000.00, with all labor donated.
The Eastern Star ladies held auctions, rummage sales, and held community dinners, all to raise money for the new building, and they contributed greatly. With most of the construction being done on weekends and evenings, the ladies provided food and coffee to the workers.
Sunrise Chapter No. 22, Order of the Eastern Star, had the honor of holding the first meeting in the new hall, when, they installed their 1980 officers, with Mrs. Jimmie Collier their Worthy Matron, and Charley Sprague, Worthy Patron.
Jess Shouse had the honor of serving as the first Worshipful Master in the new hall, in 1980.
Sunset Lodge No. 57 meets at 7;30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each, month, and holds a school each Thursday evening, with Art Sheridan as instructor, with Otto Cox and Herb Covin also instructing.
